I’ve always liked the idea of yoga, but not always yoga itself. Sometimes I like it, but sometimes it’s just too slow for me- it all depends on the style and instructor. Then there’s pilates…similar to yoga in a way, but focusing more on strengthening the core.
I love the pilates classes at my gym..my favorite class is a Monday night power mat pilates, but I don’t make it as often as I like. Let’s face it- life often gets in the way by the time 7:30pm rolls around. So this morning I made it a point to get up for the early pilates class, and I sure didn’t regret it!
The class today seemed to focus a lot on glutes, although not intentionally. I could feel some muscle-building in my shoulders too ;). In pilates I’m always surprised by how such a tiny movement can be so hard!
